ADA periodically holds learning events to share and deliberate on various issues, particularly focussing on locally led adaptation and devolved climate finance, among others.

Devolution Conference

ADA has been showcasing her work in devolved climate finance at the Devolution Conferences, convened by the Council of Governors. In the 7th session of the Devolution Conference in Makueni in 2021, ADA showcased the CCCF experience of the pilot counties in exhibition booths, via a video and through plenary forum discussion.

Africa Climate Summit, September 2023

ADA hosted a session on devolved climate finance to highlight how the CCCF was being implemented in Kenya, ensuring predictable and sustainable financing for locally-led climate actions at sub-national levels. The session also created awareness of the DCF Alliance's goal of supporting devolved climate financing and investments in public goods to improve communities’ climate resilience through adaptation options in various countries in Africa.

International Forums

  • UNFCCC COP 27 Sharm Al Shiek, Egypt - ADA made presentations at various sessions and pavilions.
  • ADA was also awarded the Local Adaptation Champions’ Award for Climate Financial Governance by the Global Centre for Adaptation.
  • UNFCCC COP 28 Dubai, United Arab Emirates - ADA and her partners hosted a side event on “Experiences and Lessons from Implementing Locally-Led Climate Action at Scale” to showcase locally-led and owned adaptation actions that were designed and implemented by communities, contributing to the learning and development of knowledge that strengthened the theory and practice of climate change adaptation and resilience building in the developing world.  

Discussions delved into; exploring innovative financing methods to boost ambition; recognizing the crucial role of subnational governments and partnerships in promoting sustainable climate actions; emphasising the involvement of the private sector in addressing climate challenges and tailoring climate change responses to diverse environments, including conflict-prone areas.
