The Voices for Just Climate Action (VCA) is a program that aims to ensure that by 2025 local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and communities take a central role as creators, facilitators and advocates for innovative climate solutions. The program is being implemented in 7 countries, that is, Kenya, Tunisia, Zambia, Indonesia, Brolivia, Brazil and Paraguay.

The project covered 6 counties, namely Nakuru, Narok, Lamu, Marsabit, Kajiado and Garissa. We supported the county governments of Nakuru and Narok to establish Ward Climate Change Planning Committees through capacity building of county climate change officers; building the capacity of 7 pilot WCCPCs in Nakuru (Biashara); Narok (Kilgoris); Marsabit (Loglogo and Karare) and Lamu (Bahari, Kinungi and Mkunumbi), on their mandate, the participatory resilience planning tools that they need to use to facilitate broad community participation, locally-led project cycles and development of climate adaptation project proposals that incorporate Nature based Solutions (NbS) and Indigenous Knowledge (IK). In addition, respective county government officials and local CSOs were also trained and will thereafter lead the capacity building of other WCCPCs in their counties.
