Capacity Building

CONTENTS

ADA plays an important role in building the capacity of stakeholders on devolved climate finance, specifically on the CCCF and locally led adaptation. At the community level, we have capacity built over 100 WCCPCs as well as county government officers i.e County Climate Change  Planning Committees and County Climate Change Steering Committees) in over 37 counties. Capacity building is undertaken through workshop sessions that have been developed to deliver adequate and practical knowledge.

In a bid to ensure that this knowledge is institutionalised, we partnered with the Kenya School of Government (KSG) to develop a CCCF Curriculum and Facilitators’ Guide in 2021. This certified course is now available at KSG, particularly targeting county government officers and stakeholders working in the climate change sector.

ADA is currently working with partners to develop a Trainers' Manual for training WCCPCs. The use of this manual by climate change stakeholders in all counties is in line with the LLA principle of  investing in local capabilities to ensure understanding of climate risks and uncertainties, generate solutions, facilitate and manage adaptation initiatives over the long term.
