The Adaptation Consortium (Ada) has been working across five counties of Garissa, Isiolo, Kitui, Makueni and Wajir implementing the County Climate Change Fund (CCCF) Mechanism that is designed to enable county governments to mainstream climate change adaptation and resilience building in their plans.

To access climate finance from different sources to fund investments in public goods prioritized by local communities to build their resilience. One of key achievements of the mechanism has been its contribution to the realization of objectives of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, the County Government Act, 2012 and the Climate Change Act, 2016 by ensuring citizen-led approaches to the planning and climate proofing of public funding for development.

Ada Consortium convened a policy roundtable in Nairobi on 18th October 2018 to share lessons and experiences of the CCF Mechanism, based on the recently concluded learning on its the effectiveness.

The policy roundtable provided a forum for the Consortium to share these lessons with major stakeholders with a view to establishing how the mechanism can be scaled out to other counties and how its experiences can be used inform national policy and practice of building resilience to climate change
